Guests staying at Super 8 Motel in Clear Lake are near the memorial that commemorates the plane crash in the late 1950s that killed rock stars Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper. The trio played their last concert in this town's Surf Ball Room. Each year, thousands of fans gather in Clear Lake for the annual Buddy Holly Tribute. The Super 8 Motel also is close to year around fishing, water sports, yacht racing, parasailing, ice fishing, snowmobiling and paddle boat excursions on the Lady of the Lake.
